Amey becomes a hero by rejecting the zeroes [Freebie-Highbury Heroes]
By ‘I wanted to be a hero not a roadrunner’
Amey Kelkar, the much talked about Ohio striker in a stunning and for some ‘heart-breaking’ move joined newbies Highbury Heroes for a huge sum of money. Amey who was termed as a very impolite and insensitive man by Abhilasha Dafria last season due to his constant quietude towards her approaches was thought by journalist legend Abdul Moiz as ‘the most polite man alive’.
Whatever the case maybe, it seems that Amey, who was more interested in watching Belgium League football when Abhilasha had approached him has had a change of heart, when the amount of Zimbabwean dollars offered by Gunrunners matched by HH in pounds. Although Amey’s biggest fan and vice-captain of Goonraiders disagrees.
“It cant be possible that Amey went for money” said Moiz “he must have liked the polite approach of Highbury Heroes. You see, the lady wasn’t patient enough with him and when you don’t have the money you got to have the patience.”
When we approached Abhilasha, she first refused to comment, however on constant persuasion she held a press conference early this Tuesday morning.
Ms Dafria said “What is my mistake? That I asked him to join my club? It was only a professional move. Why does the media make it sound like I asked him out for coffee?”
She continued in a sorry voice “ See, I am responsible to my team and team mates. I have a wonderful club. We all respect one another. When the media keeps quoting how Amey Kelkar refused to join my club, it is indirectly an insult to the ones who strive hard for this team. My team mates never questioned me on AK. I told them, I tried. And that I failed. It didn’t matter to them. We are and will be a complete team, and yes, I will tap the biggest names of the Gooner World. Amey is just one of them.”
So why is the cold war between the two of you?
“There is no cold war. I respect Amey Kelkar. I think he’s pure talent and intelligence. I liked him and so I approached him. What he did, I thought, was unprofessional. I didn’t mind his not joining, I just thought I was worthy of a spoken ‘NO’. But that doesnot make me diss him. I see him as competition, and I welcome him to the league.”
Abhilasha breathed heavily and continued saying “ I, and on behalf of Amey Kelkar too, genuinely request the media to stop making gossips out of this story. It has been exploited enough and now its been taken to a different page altogether. We have had enough of this already, whatever is between us, we will sort it, professionally and personally.”
It remains to be seen whether the man who is consulted by Monsieur Wenger before signing a player can himself do well on the pitch or no.It maybe that his quality be the same as the leagues he watches most often, you know the standard of African Leagues don’t you?
As for the lady’s request, The AFCP Times has considered the plea of the community’s Most Pampered Member (as voted in the community poll-Dec’09) and we hereby end the season-long-stretched controversy. The AFCP Times, in a way, is grateful to controversy’s own child and to Mr. Politically-correct, because a story on them in any edition, always reaped profits.
But its time, we say RIP to this epic saga! Case closed.
Me says: Will it take Doom Metal or Star Wars to break the ice between these two, that even Global warming couldn’t?.
Nitish raids the raiders[freebie-Goonraiders]
By “Season of the Goonraiders”
You may not know this but Nitish Thakur may not even be a human being,he may be a virus unleashed by the team to torture fellow rivals with his constant bickering and cruel to the eyes posts. This gets mostly proven by the constant interviews in which he just says ‘Season of the Goonraiders’ and then disappears. It is further proved when this boasting comes after a defeat.Surely,a humanbeing can be that machine-like.
Anyways,Nitish Thakur was signed by Goonraiders sighting to his excellent performances in a World something event where his teams went to the finals and got owned by a certain CP member’s team.It was these performances which made Goonraiders sign him up.His contract and transfer details were not shared saying that its better kept untold. Our resources though tell us that Nitish plays on an pay as you irritate contract and seemingly is earning loads through it too.
Goonraiders have been missing key players and Nitish has become an integral part of the team this season but does him being an integral part of the team will bring success?Only time can tell that!
Me says:Its better if Goonraiders lose soon enough or atleast I would have my ears cut so that I cant hear Asjad-II anymore!
Vipin runs to Gunrunners[freebie-‘Led by Lady’ Runners]
By “Never are you going to see me here again”
Vipin, a highly respected man in the region may have dented his reputation a bit by joining an all star-no result team. It was thought that Vipin, who played central Forward, for IIM-L has more love for the game rather than stardom, photo shoots and no performances on the pitch and so it is surprising to see him choose just that. Gunrunners have recently signed all the big names who hadn’t joined the game yet and all the credit for the flop signings goes to chief-executive Abhilasha Dafria. Gunrunners have come under heavy criticism in recent weeks over signings of non-existent players who do smile a lot after signing for the club but then don’t even hit the screens once after that, but has Abhilasha ever listened to anyone? A certain ‘No’ would be the answer. In her search for finding the right man she has signed about 12 to 13 stars showering them with millions of Zimbabwean dollars just to make them smile and sign the contract.
This may well be the difference between her missing out on the politest people to have graced the Earth and to sign only those who have so much attitude that they don’t even appear on the pitch due to dictatorship problems with the referee.
Me says: Why?Why write an article at all? This may well be his first and last mention in the game.
In No Shishir’s Land
(By “Im Your illegimite son, you are my illegimite father”
.
Well, last but not the least.Highbury heroes have somewhat kept the legacy of The Pirates of the Emirates going. After replacing the thieves, the heroes marked a number of zeroes on their portfolio right away. They firstly signed a Munna and then made him captain, a double mistake which proved to boil a huge controversy in the League. Munna came on a self-settled amount of money from Evolutionary Gunners and it is said that EG are utilizing all of that money in trying to make a device which would let Fazal be motivated for the whole season.
.
Anyways, the controversy’s main protagonist include Munna the kid himself, Shishir-the runaway Pistolite and ‘ever present to praise Ade’ ,the misfiring pistolite captain Asjad Saleemi. The story starts when Shishir fires himself into a Hero outfit thereby fulfilling the promise he made to his gf of becoming a hero one day but this fulfilment of his promise let Rahul and Asjad fuming. One reason, the one everyone thinks, is that Shishir went to HH on a free where Asjad hadn’t even put him for sale.
.
The other, which is a conspiracy theory, tells that Asjad’s bet that he would never let anyone become a hero by jinxing them was lost and for which his gf kicked him in the guts, leaving a depressed Asjad resorting to drugs.Whatever be the case, Shishir played a match for Highbury Heroes putting 5 past an innocent Goonraiders team. Asjad who was assumingly asleep before all this leapt like, or tried to leap like, a lion but in the end only could roar as always. He told the media that Shishir was still a Pistolite and that he would never ever allow a Pistolite to score 5 for anyone be it for his own team.
This resulted in a number of serious allegations against both Shishir and Munna, where CP blamed HH to not have paid ‘em, who blamed EG to have extracted money from ‘em, who blamed CP for unable to extract money from ‘em. Amidst this Shishir came out defending both the sides as he was unsure where would he land eventually and the smartest shit to do was to be diplomatically correct. (This is what Amey Kelkar can do to his team.)
.
Later, Paul and co gave the judgement, on mutual consent that Shishir wasn’t transferred to HH at all , and so Asjad was ..well pinned more and more by his ex-gf. The biggest winner though, was the crowd who saw it all unfolding and the icing on the cake was when even Santiago-a young HH player had a go at his captain-Munna by accusing him of not even listening to his advice. On this Munna told him to change his nappy and move on.
.
Me says: We don’t make THE AFCP TIMES , you guys do.
The Legend of Oursenal PC continues...
In a takeover story that would put Takshin Shinawatra to shame, this month we make a special and well-earned mention of Sahil, a former poll magnet, who has successfully taken over the formerly bankrupt Oursenal PC.
.
Historically, one of the first AFCPL clubs to be created, Oursenal PC enjoyed some good seasons, but, with their golden generation gone, including the founding member Rubin, found themselves in dire straights last season, when Sahil, formerly seen mostly in the
remotely visited Poll Approval topic, decided to take over the reigns and also took over the position of deemed-CEO of the AFCPL league.
.
Sahil who was seen sulking over his team's ill performance in the previous editions has single handedly reinvented his club that looked to fall to pieces erstwhile. From tapping potential players, to building the new oursenal Pc stadium to becoming an active member in the FIFA-AFCP Organisation, this man has done it all. Tapping in a great defensive midfielder in Srinivas and a good striker in the likes of Anuj, speaks of the man great management skills.
.
" Tapping good players for peanuts and to build a stadium out of nothing, its tremendous" commented Saumeet of Wengaboys " but what is truly great is his sense of responsibility in taking over the Table and Results responsibility of the league"
.
The AFCP Times takes pride in the image of being a paper that takes digs at the league players. However, we clarify, we have our share of fun, but we do applaud the effort of those who make this league the best in the Football world. On behalf of 4553, including the league players, we praise the sincerity and contribution of Sahil to the
league.
.
Me says: Keep it up son! Its gooners like you who make this place what
it is.
Santiago on board captain!
It takes us immense pleasure to announce that Harish, popularly known as Santiago has been appointed as the new HOD :Technical Dept of The AFCP Times. It takes a lot of courage, commitment and caliber to be a part of, undoubtedly, the biggest paper of the journalism world.
.
By far, the entire paper execution laid on the shoulders of Abhilasha Dafria and Abdul Moiz who are very discrete about their modus operandi and thus very particular about who has could join in.

.
He further explained saying " The steps include, Identifying and Defining the Article subject, Extensive literature survey, formulating the hypothesis, interview design, design a questionnaire, design a sample, collection of data, organization of data, analysis and interpretation of data, testing of hypothesis, preparing the article
report with preliminary contents, main text, concluding text, and finally the follow-up of the article"
.
And just as tough it sounds, as exciting it is. "ofcourse!" said Abhilasha " I mean, other than being the highest paid job in the world, its actually a very fun thing to do. We have about 1 lakh applications each year for enrollment in the AFCP office"
.
So how did Santiago make it out of the 1 lakh desperate applicants? "Impeccable resume" recalled Ms.Dafria "though it was very tough for him as well. He had to go through umpteen number of written tests, psychometric tests, vivas, interviews... before he took the ethical neutrality oath. He emerged out victorious and showed the vigor and vision to fit into our techie dept. Im glad to have talent like him on
board"
It is supposed that Santiago has signed in as a trainee for the first season with a pay-cheque of 12 lakh Zimbabwean Dollars with about double the salary next season onwards. He is also believed to have a time-schedule of 9am-11 pm each working day with overtime on match days. He is also entitled for one holiday each month, leave allowance, rent, lunch coupons, traveling allowance and 6 months of maternity
leave.
.
"Its the best job ever! Im on cloud 9!! Ill give it all that it takes to raise the flag of AFCP Times high!" commented Santiago, his eyes filled with tears of joy.

THE AFCP TIMES YEAR END EDITION:DECEMBER '09 ISSUE
Journalists : Abdul Moiz & Abhilasha Dafria
Editor: Abhilasha Dafria
.
Sorry Sorry Sorry and sorry for the delay. Here we are with the December 2009 year ending edition of The AFCP Times. With the season-end reviews to victorious interviews this edition we have it all. We apologize for the delay but hopefully we have made it to you in the quality of the paper! Enjoy reading! And remember: WE MAKE SHIT LOOK GOLD!!
.
Aye! Aye! Captain!
.
We managed to interview the Captain of the victory-smelling captain Ankur Dalal in his relaxing American Holiday home. Here are the excerpts :
.
Let me begin saying Congratulations to your victory. Its obvious but I still ask :How does it feel to win?
It feels great. After knocking at the door for 3 seasons and just missing it, it's feels absolutely wonderful to have finally won it.
.
We did see a lot of wonderful talent being pulled into the league this season. However do you think it was Felipe who brought you this victory?
It was a collective team effort and Felipe did play a very important role in guiding us to glory :)
.
Ankur, a few insiders told me, you could deny it if at all…It is rumoured that your senior player Akshay Jha who plays central defender has quit the league because he couldn’t take Amey Kelkar joining another club, for the obvious affection they share. Are the rumours of Akki quitting true?
False. Sheer baseless rumors.
.
If you say so. However, though you are now a complete team, who wud u like to see at the arsenalists?
Currently we have a pretty good unit. Though our scouts are always on the lookout for talent ;)
.
Do you think this season also goes in your hand, Ankur? How high do you rate the curse of the top, or do you think its highly superstitious?
Its highly superstitious. We are here to do the double and we'll prove all doubters wrong by winning the title again.
Lastly, any thank-giving speeches?
It's difficult to compress it in 2 lines, so I'll just Thank every member of my team for their energy, hard work, dedication throughout the season. I'll also like to Thank all the other teams for always giving us a good fight and pushing us to our limits.
.
Thank you for your precious time Sir and good luck for the next league.
.

TOP-5 Transfers (Season-5)
]No.5-Vacas ‘the raider’ [Free agent-Goonraiders]
.
By “I won’t allow the thing you desire even if my life depends on it”
.
From being called the hostile dictator to the pet dog, Vacas Areph had earned each and every name this world could have thrown at him.In need of new challenges and to capitulate more innocent victims, he thought of joining the Goonraiders and after being quietly requested by the ‘innocent’ Moiz-a senior player-not to join their team, Vacas gleefully raided the Raiders outfit.
.
The mention of Vacas in this elite list lies not because of his exquisite performances on the pitch but rather his inability to even get his feet on the ball. The signing of Vacas Areph may have caused ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ from other players but it was none the less a signing which had more glamour than true class.
.
Vacas Areph’s only glorious moment was when he tried to ban the player who fouled him but when the referee informed the ‘dictator’ that this was the referee’s playground, Vacas tried to use his ‘buttons’ on him which resulted in Vacas being set off. This sums up this transfer rather excellently
.
Me says: Mr.Vacas should leave this game with a bit respect by allowing the ‘AFCP Times Centre’ on his own luxurious one room apartment.
No.4-Mitul ‘the Wenger fraand’[Late Pirates-W.Boy]
By “I cant change my DP”
.
Mitul Shah,an ex-pirate comes into our list at No.4.An impressive central defender,Mitul was rather pirated from the Pirates.Saumeet Nanda-captain of Wengaboys-envisaged the demise of Pirates and Mitul’s signing proved to be the first dent on their rusty old ship.
.
Mitul who was signed in an exchange for Gautham was a steel in the eyes of many while many predicted that the deal included a beer bath for Addy and Rohan as well.Whatever the case, the fraandly warrior played impressively and saved the Wengaboys from relegation. The ex-pirate remained in the news not only with his sterling plans of skyscrapers and their failures but also with his constant allegations towards his former captain. It seems that the warheads of Mitul struck the Pirates ship with deadly venom as the Pirates only survived a season after parting ways with this luck charm.
.
Me asks:Who’s next to be dephoosed,Mitul?
No.3-Fazal ‘Our own Ade’[Arsenalists-Evol. Gunrs]
By ‘You wont see me but in the summer’
.
Mr.Fazal occupies the third spot on this hugely important list.Fazal, the giant striker, claimed he wasn’t truly respected by Arsenalists and wanted to move to any team on the planet. After having called each n every team himself,AR made him an EG and got paid by Arsenalists for doing so.
.
The man seemed to have turned a corner after signing for the so called ‘mediocre’ EG team and showed his class by delivering great goals against his former team. This change was short lived though and Fazal reportedly lost all the passion he had acquainted for the game and played without any enthusiasm. The dip in form for EG was directly proportional to that as well. But as the transfer window came closer again,Fazal in a bid to impress another team again banged some goals but with no one coming in for him,he might have again gone into hibernation till the summer.
His captain,Abdul Rehman says‘He is the transfer of the season. He is awesome .”
.
Me says:Yeah,AR,he will be THE transfer of next season too!
.
.
No.2-Jagadeesh ‘tapped upped runner’[Goonraiders-Gunrunners]
.
By “Let me go or I will go myself”
.
Jagadeesh Nair is one of the most respected people in this game.He came in with a huge reputation but zilch experience. After remaining injured for the whole of his time at Goonraiders.Abhilashal Dafria offered ‘Jaggu’ a stunning one trillion dollars contract.Jagadeesh without completing his time with Goonraiders left for Gunrunners, creating some controversy but in the end the innocent Raiders gave up the case.
.
Jagadeesh Nair seemingly had an excellent effect on the team. The ‘walking’ Gunrunners looked transformed and his arrival coincided with the team giving Arsenalists a run for their money in mid season.Jagadeesh is a gritty footballer and his performance against the Raiders must be his highlight where he shaked hands with Mufaddal after scoring an own goal.
.
Me says: Your age is to open charity schools with Akki not to betray innocent people.
No.1-Felipe [Freebie-Arsenalists]
By “Sorrowfully thankful”
.
Felipe Hassin, the English forward was arguably the best signing that could have ever been done.Nominated the best transfer by almost everyone,he was a steal for only getting him to win two bets of 1$ each.Ankur Dalal was the mastermind behind this move, proving his credentials as the one who has the eye which Ms.Dafria certainly lacks-the one to poach excellent players.
.
Felipe reaches the top in our rankings because of his emotional speeches to the opposition teams rather than for his blockbuster performances. His emotional speeches had the opposition team so pumped up to play with politeness that they ended up gifting goals to Arsenalists time and again.Whatever be the case,Felipe Hassin graced this league with not only his appearance but attracted some British chics in the crowd for the enjoyment of the players, managers and old citizens alike.
.
Me says:You got Top rank in this prestigious list, here, you deserve your Goonraider shirt:P

Team Review-Season 5
10.Oursenal P.C. [From heroes to zeroes]
.
Oursenal P.C. were a kind of a surprise package when they did the double in Season-4,bringing the CL home too. With their captain Rubin, named after great things, showing his greatness and Aditya chipping away consistently at the opposition defenses,Oursenal formed a formidable team but then they were hit by the champions’s curse.A season of glory was followed by a season of misery. With Rubin getting kidnapped and Aditya getting ill with an unknown disease,Oursenal gave away many walkovers. In stepped Sahil-the poll magician-to magically get himself to become the stand-in captain of the champions. His magic might have cleared a lot of others from his path to captaincy but his magic could not get them out of relegation.
.
Sahil describes his team’s own season as:
.
I would rate our season pretty bad and disappointing. I joined the team in the middle of the season, but didnt found the playing time as our Captain was nowhere to be season. But then i weaved my magic and took over the team, but found it very difficult as my magic got Rubin and Aditya both injured and me being not familiar with our playing style conceded easy wins.
I think long term absentees and my magic were the reason of our dismal performance last season.
9.Conflagooners[Eaten like Cornflakes]
Conflagooners,a big team, being the starting point for so many legends of the game,it was a sorry sight to see Conflgooners getting relegated.Captain Saby,VC Abhimanyu and Kartik were not able to save the team as they were looted by the Pirates, raided by Goonraiders,Arsenalised by Arsenalists,Gunned down by Pistols and pissed over by the boys.Conflagooners only good time was when they defeated the Pirates in a great matchup.Excuses were thrown out like ‘we have less players and bla bla’ but in the end the retired Naboue,Vittal and Fuad were let down by the current team of zeroes.
.
When we tried to approach the captain,he broke our camera and smashed away our mike and ran away like a kid whose pants are down.
.
.
8.Gunrunners[High profiles-low points]
.
Gunrunners, commonly known as Relegation Runners, lived upto their name as they gave the relegated teams a run for their money for the relegations spots once again. After an excellent start to the season which saw them threatening the mighty Arsenalists,it all ended pretty badly as captain Abhilasha Dafria was left ruing missing out on Felipe and Amey Kelkar.Despite the poor performances, the team remained in the spotlight for their mega money signings like Jagadeesh,Sajit and Sairam. There was a lot oexpected from the team with these signings but the constant misfiring of the captain was responsible for such a torrid display. It is widely thought that the charming lady spends more time polishing her nails then giving attention to team strategies and other important stuff. It seems that the lowly 8th position even maybe an overachievement for the Gunrunners outfit as their captain Abhilasha Dafria said:
.
It was a great season,we accumulated a lot of great players on such a low budget of ten trillion zimbabweon dollars so it was an awesome season for us.
7.Pirates of the Emirates[Wrecked Ship-Game over]
The Pirates of the Emirates, with Addy and Rohan were a joy to watch as they stole points from other teams and looted the beer bottles wherever they found them.It was a below standard season for them as after the departure of the luck charm ‘Mitul’ their ship was in troubled waters from the begin and then those warheads by their ex-employee seemingly drowned their ship.A lowly 7th position was the result of their looting as they were looted by other teams more than they had looted them. This disappointing finish, had the team captain Addy and his team mates so disappointed that they abandoned the pirated ship and sung
.
We lost,we lost and lost again
.
We were plundered and looted again and again
.
We cant take the police sticks anymore
.
So we abandon the ship to drown alone
.
Abdul Rehman,EG captain was surprised to see PoE finished 7th.
.
I was surprised to find their ship in troubled waters though happy too, these fucking pirates had even stolen my beloved luxurious underpants!
.
.
6.Goonraiders[Mediocrity personified]
.
After qualifying for UEFA PL for this season, better things were expected of this outfit. With youth gaining enough experience to step a level,Goonraiders were in a good position to tell the world of their arrival. With the signing of Vacas Areph, the got applauds from all corners but the team again proved themselves to be not good enough and now rightfully claim the ‘mediocre’ tag.Vacas Areph’s signing proved to be a flop as the dictator didn’t like himself being dictated by the referee and his constant sending offs made it worse for the team. With injuries to Moiz and Mufaddal at the business end of the season,Goonraiders finished at a very disappointing 6th.
.
VC Moiz had this to say:
We had an average season, similar to the last one. Many good wins but some howlers too.Seeing that we had the second best GD tells a lot.Being mediocre is still better than getting relegated everyother season, aint it?
5.Groovers of the Grove[Safety first]
It’s a team which is isnt talked about much except for their safety predictions.Having an enormously gifted captain,Groovers were looking to have a better season than the last as the relegated team of last season put in consistent displays with Paul alone hitting goals from 70 yards.Gog have a mysterious playing style, turning up on the ground earlier than the referee, score goals, mark them on the scoreboard and leave. When the opposing team arrives, they rest seeing that they got a walkover but when the scoreboard gets seen for final score,Gog win comprehensively but this trick sometimes fails and when it does,Gog get smashed.
.
Yet no one can deny that even if Paul is hungry for the limelight, his silent and consistent performances do dent the opposition teams big time.Praising the captain of Gog,Paul, Saumeet said:
"He plays for the whole of AFCPL.We are trying to lure him in if possible, lets see if the lure of money would be too much for him or no."
.
Paul himself reflected back on the season like this:
"It started off pretty bright, went on a mini unbeaten run but then things kinda waned off."
.
In all i'd say average.
.
.
4.Evolutionary Gunners[Above average]
.
After the unpopular signing of Fazal,EG captain said that his team was complete and they would leave the mediocre performances of seasons behind them and get the mediocre tag off them. They started the season with impressive form as Fazal banged in goals for fun but then as Fazal’s passion for the game ended,so did the good form and they struggled for results but a good spanking by AR to Fazal got the whole team going and Munna’s tears on finishing fourth were worth enjoying.Never the less,it was not a good season for them at the rivals front as they finished a point behind arch rivals CP.
.
EG captain,AR seemed happy enough with the season’s performances
.
Very Good.Finishing 4th is better than the championship, atleast we wont be jinxed for next season.
3.Wengaboys[Machester City-Second coming]
You don’t get to see such mass over haul in teams many times so many people were graced to see such money flying from the pockets of Wengaboy’s team.It was surprising to see the comeback of Saumeet who was welcomed back after a brain injury but then the signings of Mitul and Kunal confirmed the suspicion that the big fat paychecks had lured the likes of Kunal and Karthik to even just pull on the multicolored shirt of Wengaboys on their backs. The season started with ‘Wengaboys shall prevail” but the old traditions of WB in the relegation zone prevailed and the abysmal performances continued but then at the business end of the season, the money flew again but it this time it went to the pockets of referees and match officials as a late surge saw them finish in 3rd position.
.
Saumeet, their captain reflects on the season gone in this way:
"Good. We were a team with newish players with heavy pay checks and were near or in the drop zone for some time. To finish third in the end with a late flourish of outrageous bonuses was satisfying."
2.Cesc Pistols[Where did you come from?]
Cesc Pistols who had long been boasting of an unbeaten season with only one defeat, achieved another feat which we would be forced to hear season after season. This time they might have missed out on the championship but after the relegation of last season,Cesc Pistols looked set for another abysmal display but then came results after results with Rahul Sharma and Shishir scoring goals and even after Asjad’s best efforts to give away the games,Cesc Pistols won a string of games and found themselves chasing the Arsenalists for the title though they missed out on the trophy but their effort was praiseworthy.Maybe,Asjad’s jinx doesn’t work everytime or maybe the league’s standard have fallen bigtime.
.
Ankur of Arsenalists was quite surprised at CP’s awesome performances in Season-5:
Since the departure of their best player Kamal, they have been absolutely shite. So, it was a surprise when they were close to the top of the table
.
Even Paul was stunned to see the water pistols riding so high: From being nearly relegated to 2nd in the league, surprising indeed!
.
Abdul Moiz, the VC of Goonraiders was also surprised at this display: I was kind of stunned to find them second.I first looked at the bottom half and saw Pistols nowhere and thought ‘Oh!This table has a mistake, they havent included the Pistols in it.’So,it was a huge surprise indeed to see the misfiring bullets in the second spot !!
1.The Arsenalists[The Champions]
Having an excellent mixture of about every kind of player that one can get in a team,Arsenalist won the championship title which they were due. After finishing so close to the top many times, winning it at last was an achievement which didn’t surprise many.Having the experience of Akshay-be it in old hindi songs, the tenacity of Sumanth, the cocky Rudra, the rookiness of Aamir and the politeness of Felipe and the calmness of Ankur, you gotta say this team were the best, but what was so special in this team that made them champions? When we asked Ankur about this,he said
.
I wont spill the beans.i'll skip this one.
.
This makes it all the more interesting. Some wild guesses conclude that the close contact of Felipe and Akshay with the dictator got them that cutting edge.Whatever be the case, the champion’s captain concludes the season perfectly
.
Being the Champions, I would rate our season even more than Good, maybe even Best Ever seeing that we all got 5 GFs each for this display
.

The AFCP Times: Monthly Edition
[Correspondents Abdul Moiz and Abhilasha Dafria]
As promised and told, fellow goners, tonight we take sports journalism to an entire new level. The monthly edition gives a round-up of all you needed to know of AFCPL this month. We have got it all. From the rumours which circulated to the inter team fights that never took centre stage. Heres your monthly compilation of
what happened, what is happening, what was to happen, and what never happened but could have happened.
Complicated? Well the seasons just started!
The Transfer Round up:
The transfer season finished on the 31st of August and there you go with the round up:
Vacas goon to Raiders.
By “I am as young as your father Luke!”
In a startling piece of business by player and chief executive “Moiz” of the club “Goonraiders”, the chief executive has done the impossible by convincing Vacas Areph, the banker, to join his team. Left Centre-back Vacas Areph, for all his reputation as a hater of this league, obliged to the brilliant offer on the table and signed a lucrative 5 million Zimbabwean dollar long-term contract. It has to be seen whether the widely known Dictator can dictate Goonraiders to success.
Vacas Areph or The Joker or The Dictator was never seen showing the slightest interest in the game before this move. He has come under heavy criticism from the players and managers of the AFCPL but for reasons which he could do nothing about. Having a reputation of a legend in the eyes of some while some loathing him to the degree of insaneness his move was expected to become a big talk. His age remains a concern but in his interview to The Gun, he said
“I am only 25 right now. There are players who are beyond their coaching years and are playing so why cant I?”
In a reply to the question to how will he react to the abuses the players throw at him, he said
“It wasn’t I who had cut the taxes from their bank accounts if they still find me to blame,I have two words for them *mouths those unspeakable words*”
Vacas Areph is already a legend albeit a good one or a bad one but his signing means one thing is going to happen for sure. No,no don’t get me wrong,it wont make the game much interesting,it will increase the average age of the players playing.
It is also rumoured that fellow team-mates had tiffs with the player during his arrival party as he has threatened to ban all those who used any other language that English in the team.
It remains to be seen whether his buttons and off field antics will dominate or would his skills take centre stage for once.
From The Arsenalists to Evolutionary Gunners
By “I will sleep only after the transfer window is closed”
Forward Fazal signed for Evolutionary Gunners on a free transfer. Fazal garnered a lot of interest but not before going through a period with interviews having the same few words “No one bid for me?”.A lot of the teams did not show any interest in him saying that its only the transfer window which wakes him up but Abdul Rehman determined to get someone, to get the supposedly non-existent “One man team” tag out of the way offered him a lucrative deal.Goonraiders did ask to join him too and even that “free of cost” [8)] but he signed for the former telling Goonraiders “Next transfer season-surely”.
Fazal has been a note worthy name but his reputation as a moody player would not help EG. With already a high tempered captain and a munna in the team, it seems EG signed him to complete the set. The building reputation of Fazal now being a mercenary wont help them either.
This signing can have a negative impact on the team but if the diminutive captain can keep him fit for the season, then he might just turn out to be the buy of the year. For now he resembles someone which Cesc Pistols idolize.
Old is Gold:Felipe
By “Never Fight with Mr.Polite”
In one of the most scintillating piece of business, Felipe Hassan, a noteworthy name in the list of “polite people” signed a deal worth 100 million yens to astonish many viewers and players alike. The master mind behind the deal appears to be Ankur Dalal, the captain and manager of Arsenalists, as he was ecstatic while announcing the signing of the young Englishman who would replace the Forward who left for EG earler this season. However the idea of signing Felipe might have been given by the “Teddy Sheringham” of the team since Ankur’s ecstatic statement showed signs of ‘pleasant surprise’ as well. Its noteworthy that Felipe has a brilliant reputation as a gentle man and one who takes defeat on the chin making him one of the most craved and loved people around. When tribalhoofball caught up with him he replied:
“I am very happy to join The Arsenalists. They are a team which everyone respects and I love people who are respected as those who give respect are the ones who get respected. I will give my 100% for the team on every matchday and would try to steer them to the fair play award. Its a pleasure to be a part of such a brilliant league.”
When asked about the prospect of joining the team whose average age is 50,he simply said
“Old is gold”
On being asked why he joined the league when he had so many other commitments he said
“Try and fail, but never fail to try.”
The ‘politely’ correct English striker is known for his ‘love one love all’ interviews that end up with journalists trying to persuade him to marry their daughter.
Mitul: a Wengaboy, Gautham: a pirate
By “Fraands corner”
In a transfer which both teams would be happy with, striker Mitul signed for the everstruggling Wengaboys while Gautham in a player exchange deal went to Pirates of the Emirates. Both players come with some pedigree but with Mitul yet to show the potential he has and Gautham yet to live upto his name, this transfer has a lot of ifs and maybes.
Mitul who never enjoyed life at the Pirates sighed relief on joining Wengaboys and was happy to have fraandship with interim club captain Saumeet. It was rumoured that Mitul, who was much know for the controversies surrounding his chain of 5star hotels had a tradition of treating his teammates at his hotel and was often offended when Pirate captain AdDy refused to have anything on account of his mask. In an emotional outburst Mitil said “Such arrogance kills the team-building. Its just a coffee break… not like I was asking for a lip-lock!”
Gautham however was happy enough to sing the “ho-ho” song of the Pirates and refused to comment on his captain.
Kunal signs for Wengaboys
By “Capiche”
Striker Kunal after heavy insisting by a nerd captain accepted a contract whose worth remained undisclosed. Kunal, who had come in as a relative stranger has proved to have good knowledge of the game and a lot of the teams will struggle to cope up with his predatory instinct. A very good piece of business by Wengaboys but like their comparative brothers, they look good on paper and bad on the standings.
Paper Talk:
Gunrunners are on the verge of signing Ohio striker Amey Kelkar(Bore.com)
Gunrunners are trying their best efforts to sign the mega-striker. They have tabled a contract and look set to wrap up the deal within 15 hours. Do you think Amey will sign for Gunrunners?
Wengaboys are showing great interest in Amey Kelkar(The Daily Phail)
Wengaboys are looking to end their spending spree by hijacking the Gunrunners deal for Amey Kelkar. The Ohio striker seems the top on the shortlist of manger and defensive midfielder Saumeet as he looks to complete the set of incredible debaters. But with Amey in squad, there are chances of less football on ground and more group-discussions. Do you think Wengaboys should sign Amey?
Till the next transfer season,I am hibernating:Fazal(The Gun)
As expected, forward Fazal has told EG that he is injured till January and hence will not be available for selection. It seems that Fazal is not happy at the way EG have treated his injury. Is Fazal trying to join another team by faking an injury?
Amey Kelkar rejects the contract of Gunrunners despite the chief executive’s pleas(Sigh Sports)
Sigh sports resources understand that Amey Kelkar has rejected the offer of Gunrunners despite repeated calls by the chief executive and striker Abhilasha Dafria. Gunrunners were looking up to Amey to fulfill their striking needs but it looks now that all hopes depend on left winger Sairam now. Has Amey done the right thing by breaking Abhilasha’s heart?
Cesc-pistols captain sets his priorities(The Retardian):
The Retardian claimed that Cesc Pistol Captain and RCB Asjad Saleemi was seen roaring in the dressing room after a Manchester City player scored a goal. This incident has certainly not gone down well with Pistolites who have claimed a written apology from the captain. Do you think Asjad should listen to his team-mates or his innervoice that just wouldn’t let go?
Arsenalists in search of another oldie(The Spoiler)
Arsenalists it seems are trying to get the upper hand in terms of average age by trying to find someone of the age of 110 years old.In recent times,CP and Goonraiders have tried to match Arsenalists in this competition. Is Akshay not enough?
Breaking news:
Dafria slams Amey Kelkar
In a startling revelation, Abhilasha Dafria of Gunrunners told reporters in a press conference on Thursday evening that Amey Kelkar was not as polite and gentle man as he seemed to be. She was furious with him after Amey did not respond to the plea of Gunrunners to join them. She also told reporters that Sumanth Anchan of The Arsenalists had a similar view about the Ohio striker. She said that Amey was non-responsive through out the talks and seemed to ignore her.
Dafria has brewed some controversy as many people have a very good impression of Amey and some have already regarded Dafria’s interview to be extremely unprofessional.
The matter got uglier when Abhilasha Dafria, who served a week’s ban on her unethical lashing out, moved court. However, Amey Kelkar did not respond to the court’s perpetual notices, leading to Abhilasha, the defense lawyer, the prosecutor and the judge to unanimously file a bigger case against him.
No prize for a Surprise
Well this is just for the ones who like to get surprised. Eveytime we would come up with something a little different from the regular news and other rumours and the round ups, albeit analysis, post match reviews or a good healthy interview. For this edition we have………..
Tamie Red’taking a’nap Picks
The Predictor League season is just around the corner - and once again The AFCP Times will guide you through all of the twists and turns.
Will Oursenal P.C hold onto their title when the trend of last season says otherwise or will there be another name on the Predictor League trophy in December? Can Wengaboys gatecrash the top four after heavy spending or will we see another surprise name in contention for the Champions League spots?
Who will be scrapping it out at the bottom? Which summer transfer deals will provide the best value and which signings will we be laughing at by the end of the campaign?
We asked the Tamie to gaze into his crystal ball and give us his useless view on what we can expect in 2009/10
CHAMPIONS –The Arsenalists
They have had an excellent pre season and have made two good buys. They have bought experience with Akshay and politeness with Felipe and I wonder how they bought the two things which money can not buy. They are a good team with a good captain. I see a lot of teams being intimidated by the appearance of the two afore mentioned players on the field. It would be tough but they just might edge it.
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOTS –Conflagooners,Goonraiders,Pirates of the Emirates
You might call me a fool but that’s what I am. Goonraiders though struggling have a good mix of youth and experience and have also made a brilliant signing of Vacas Areph. They have been a work in progress and should shine if things go according to play while Cornflakes are a good team with a very very devoted player in Nabil. They might be short on players but quality has no exchange. PoE like always would finish second. They are a good team with a completely pirated captain but somehow their life long supply of luck runs out right at the end.
FIFTH – Wengaboys
They would be there or there about come end of the season and I think that the new signings would make an impact. They have a good team with intelligent players but then again I feel they would just miss out on the CL spots, one reason might be a last match food poisoning.
SURPRISE PACKAGE – EG and GunRunners
They are the dark horses for me this season. You can never predict how they would perform but it seems that they have got hold of a good team and would certainly be a force to reckon with. It remains to be seen whether EG and GR would surprise us by being in the bottom 2 or the top 4.
GOING DOWN- Oursenal,Cesc Pistols
Oursenal have to go down this season.I see them following the trend and doing a Gog while Cesc Pistols have good players who can say a lot but can not perform.I see the castles crumble.
BEST BUY-Vacas Areph
Don’t get me wrong here,it was a difficult choice but be assured that he can solve the banker problems of Goonraiders plus his pedigree here can make a lot of players piss in their pants. He has to be the purchase of the season.
BONKERS BUY-Fazal
AR what were you thinking while buying this mercenary,I mean he looks to change clubs every transfer window though I might be horribly wrong. It might be Fazal showing me this come end of the year, but I doubt that he would be wearing a different club t-shirt till then. I sometimes think to myself, if not the silverware, maybe Fazal will be the only player who’ll have all the team jerseys to flaunt by the time he retires.

Post Match Analysis- 3
[By Abdul Moiz]
It was a massive week in the Predictor League and I must say we have taken our time to analyze it too. There were many shockers as Relegation'favorites' Gunners gunned down Oursenal while Conflagooners thought to be merciful towards the team which had been so devoted to the game that they had even revealed how they had practiced..Goonraiders did what their young wonder-kid was saying since match day 1 and that was to win a game.PoE and Gog settled for a draw as ex-Gog man did not want to get one over his previous team mate.Arsenalists showed that they are on their way towards becoming the “draw specialists”.
Groovers have little lottery at looters’ ship
Pirates of the Emirates 4 --4 Groovers of the Groove
The match was very much anticipated and it was time to reignite old rivalries or shall we say old friendships?Vinay who in a sensational move two seasons ago signed a lucrative one million Zimbabwean dollar deal with the pirates had to once again go through the pain of playing against a club which made him the player he is.The previous meetings suggested the game was a must watch and it didn’t disappoint.
Captain Paul had found it tough after having a season to remember about an year ago as the ones who ended up relegated last season put in a very good performance. It must be said that Vinay did try his best to make Gog oops PoE win the game but nothing was fruitful.A good last minute strike from Rohan was canceled out by a “mistake” by Vinay.Vinay has not had the best of times after his move and has remained on the sidelines for sometime now.AdDy was left fuming after the game while Paul was seen hugging Vinay a little more tightly! Both the teams look good bets to finish in the top4 this season though Gog have no reputable name to look up to if Paul gets injured.Anyways Vinay might just make himself available if …… ……………..!
Oursenal gunned down by road runners
Oursenal PC 1--Gunrunners 4
In all our previous analysis we have always pointed out that Oursenal seem to be following the same pattern followed by Gog last season. It seems that teams celebrate a bit too much after winning the league and in the case of Oursenal they won the European Cup too so it would certainly make things worse.Oursenal were disgraceful against the side of the ladies as Gunrunners had a field day against Rubin and co.Aditya gave a good start to Oursenal but as the home supporters started cheering for the lady on the opposite team,it appeared that Oursenal players joined in the crowd too as star striker Abhilasha Dafria struck two awesome vollies which incidentally struck the people in the stand. The goals however came from enthusiastic signing Sairam and the returning captain Eric to win Gunrunners their match of the championship.
Now GR can easily pack their bags and sleep while playing the DVD which was released soon after the game though as hard as it seems they would have to make a new one as the scoreline dispute even after Abhilasha tried everything she could to get it in her favor went Oursenal’s way and it ended 1-4 not 0-4.GR were appealing for the goal of Aditya to be disallowed saying he had romped over Sairam before striking the goal but the goal was never in doubt as Aditya had not even come close to Sairam let alone touch him before scoring the goal.
Cornflakes get eaten and eaten badly by firing Pistols
Conflagooners 0--3 Cesc Pistols
This had to come.Seeing the scoreline you might analyze that Cesc Pistols were too good but in reality the Cons never appeared on the field and even with that advantage and having an empty goal in front of them,CP scored only three goals and no doubt they were missing sitters and were getting offside(with no last man) when their captain idolizes the "God" of missing sitters and the creater of the term “offside”.The team captain of CP might say that the Cons didn’t appear due to the fear of Pistols firing bullets at them but the case just might be that the shit that those guns fire would have been too much for the Cons who for this reason might have thought it better to not appear at all rather than to play with shit lying around them.
It still raises questions about the character of the Cons player and their desire to win the league this season. This matchday gives indications which the Cons players would not like one bit.Controversial signing Marek started the game too even without having the work permit to play but did well in his position of goal keeper with Fakher trying his best to score an own goal.
The boys raided at home by the Goonraiders
Wengaboyz 3 -5 Goonraiders
It seems that there is a new rivalry building between these two clubs and it was evident before the kick off.Defensive midfielder Moiz and the ill captain Saumeet had quite a conversation before the match and it was a no brainer that the match would be fierce atleast and it was the case too.Goonraiders announced the signing of the season by capturing the Patrick Viera of the league aka Vacas Areph, though he did not start the match but his appearance on the bench was enough for Mitul to pass the ball into his own net only after a minute’s play.Wengaboys tried to be a little too careful in their approach by trying to seize the moment and striking the killer blow but it seems that the killer blow was struck against them and not by them as Moiz and Chinmay sealed the game by two 50 yard strikes which Kunal permitted to go into the net saying they were out of range to be caught.
It was a match of youthful exuberance versus the witty and clever minds and now we all know who came out on top.
One point evolution each for the table toppers
Arsenalists 5--Evolutionary Gunners 5
In a game of the table toppers, there was no point in asking what the result would be but the match itself was not boring at all. With regular goals being struck the game was a joy to behold.Arsenalists in a sensational move before the match told reporters that old signing Akshay had a role as good as Teddy Sheringham had in whichever club he is playing now.Nirvana started the game too but would be disappointed to see that none of the results go his way.
Arsenalists have always remained a strong team but after a terrific stop they have found bumps in a straight road. The match started with Felipe in the stands noticeably in an "I love old people" t-shirt.Arsenalists have found teams to be respectable to them but this time around they found no respect from their ex-striker Fazal as he struck a hat trick for the club he has found love for.Felipe was in tears after the match and signed up for them in order to let other teams win the game and show his sportsmanship. If EG keep this up they soon might taunt CP with something too.Arsenalists are showing that the old people at least would not let teams win if they cant win too.EG it seems have gone through a period of evolution and are now looking down upon their rivals CP.
If we have a look at the table, Oursenal it certainly seems are taking a leaf out of the book of Gog while Goonraiders and Gunrunners can now see the silver lining deeming the first two match days to be the darkest hours before dawn.EG and Arsenalists sit on top with AdDy and other pirates watching them with stealthy eyes.CP now it seems are mediocre which they once so famously tagged their fierce rivals with. With only three matchdays gone it is evident that this Predictor League would be one to remember.
Au revoir till then.
This is Abdul Moiz saying good bye to all who read this
It was a massive week in the Predictor League and I must say we have taken our time to analyze it too.
